M.A. in Korean for Professionals

Curriculum

Beginning with the incoming class of Fall 2011, the two-year MA program will operate as a 1-2-1 system. That is, students will spend the first semester at the UHM, the second and third semesters at Korea University, and the fourth semester at the UHM. (Students who entered prior to Fall 2011 will continue under the 2-2 system, spending the first and second semesters at the UHM and the third and fourth semesters at KU.)

 

Graduation Requirements

  1. A minimum of 32 credit hours, including a minimum of 18 credit hours in courses numbered 600 or higher, as outlined below
  2. Successful completion of Korean Full-time Overseas Study in Semester 2 and Semester 3 through the Manoa International Exchange (MIX) Program
  3. A research paper and an oral presentation (in one’s domain) at the end of Semester 4
  4. Demonstration of professional-level proficiency in Korean (ILR Level 3 or ACTFL Superior)
